    Nominations for the 2018 “Small Business of the Year” in Washington County are due on Friday.

    The Washington County Chamber of Commerce will hold its fifth annual Small Business Forum on June 12, and a major highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Business of the Year awards.

    Businesses from 1 to 100 employees are eligible.

    Criteria for this award include:

    • The business participates in multiple ways in the community and makes lasting contributions to the growth and well-being of the community.

    • The business has displayed evidence of high professional and business standards.

    • The business sets an example of leadership for others to follow, within its industry and its workforce.

    • The business is locally owned/operated.

    Winners in prior years were:

    • 2014 — RE/MAX Advantage (for a small business with 1-25 employees) and Brenham National Bank (for businesses with 26-100 employees).

    • 2015 — Home Sweet Farm Market & Biergarten (sole winner).

    • 2016 — Kwik Kopy Business Center (1-25) and Glasco & Co. Landscaping (26-100).

    • 2017 — Independence Coffee Co. (1-25) and Del Sol Food Co. (26-100).
